There are over 120 miles of paved trail throughout the City of Omaha with a number of those trails connecting to trails outside of the City. A map of the metro area trails titled "Paths of Discovery" is available on-line and in a hard copy form at community centers, libraries, bike shops and other establishments around the city. A listing and short description of some of the trails is listed below. All trails are concrete surfaced unless otherwise noted.

Omaha Trails Update – February 4, 2020

A lot is happening with the City’s multi-use, recreational trails right now. Here is a quick summary of what’s going on.

Big Papio Trail – Section closed from roughly West Dodge Expressway south to Cancer Survivors Park remains closed until further notice.
Heartland of America Park Trails – All trails closed in the park as of Monday, December 2, 2019.  Trails will remain closed through the Spring of 2023.
N.P. Dodge Park Trails – All trails within N.P. Dodge Park remain closed until further notice.
Riverfront Trail North – Section of trail between Ida & North 9th Street and John J. Pershing Drive remains closed.
Riverfront Trail North - Section of trail through N.P. Dodge Park remains closed until further notice.

144th STREET TRAIL
• Trail is currently open with no closures.

BARRINGTON PARK CONNECTOR TRAIL
Trail is currently open with no closures.

BIG PAPIO TRAIL
• Trail is closed from roughly West Dodge Expressway south to Cancer Survivors Park (south 105th street) as a result of the March flooding. Trail is undermined in places, concrete panels have been dislodged and the rail is covered with silt. No timetable at this time as to when this section will reopen. 

BLONDO STREET TRAIL (Big Papio Trail to N. 153rd Avenue)
Trail is currently open with no closures.

BOB KERREY PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE
 Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge is currently open. However, snow and ice may result in the bridge being closed at times. Bridge closings will be posted on the Omaha Parks and Recreation website. If you use the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge as a primary route daily, we advise that you plan an alternate route in case the bridge is closed.

BROOKHAVEN PARK TRAIL
Trail is currently open with no closures.

FIELD CLUB TRAIL
Trail is currently open with no closures.

FLANAGAN LAKE & RECREATION AREA
 The trail is currently open with no trail closures

HAPPY HOLLOW (a.k.a. BOULEVARD) TRAIL
Trail is currently open with no closures.

HEARTLAND OF AMERICA PARK TRAILS
• All trails closed as of Monday, Dec. 2nd, 2019. Trails will remain closed through Spring of 2023.

HIKING TRAILS AT HUMMEL PARK
• All trails are currently open with no closures.

KEYSTONE TRAIL

• Trail is currently open with no closures.

LAMP PARK TRAIL
Trail is currently open with no closures.

MOUNTAIN BIKE/HIKING TRAILS AT TRANQUILITY PARK
• All trails are currently open with no closures.

RIVERFRONT TRAIL NORTH (Kiwanis Park to Washington County Line)

•Section of trail through N.P. Dodge Park is closed due to Missouri River Flooding. N.P. Dodge Park also remains closed to the public. No date as to when the trail will open for use.

• A section of the Riverfront Trail from the intersection of Ida and North 9th Street to John Pershing Drive will be closed starting on Monday, January 6, 2020, so the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers can undertake repairs to the levee.  The trail should reopen in one month, weather permitting. There is no suggested detour route suggested for trail users. For additional information, please contact Nick Ramge of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at 402-210-8913 or at Nicholas.Ramge@usace.army.mil.

RIVERFRONT TRAIL SOUTH (Heartland of America Park to Veterans Memorial Bridge)

• Trail is currently open with no closures.

SKYLINE TRAIL (West Dodge Road to North Main Street and Park Road – Elkhorn)
Trail is currently open with no closures.

SOUTH OMAHA TRAIL
Trail is currently open with no closures.

• Use caution on the section of the trail that passes under I-80 near the grain elevators. Storm runoff from I-80 continues to wash silt onto the trail. 

• Use caution on the section of the trail from the South 42nd Street underpass west up on the hill. Storm runoff from I-80 continues to wash silt onto the trail. 

• Use caution on the section of trail between South 50th Street and the "F" Street overpass. Ice can form on the trail due to excess runoff from surrounding properties.

STANDING BEAR LAKE & RECREATION AREA TRAIL
Trail is currently open with no closures.

TURNER BOULEVARD TRAIL
• S. 36th & Pacific Streets to Turner Park and Dodge Street – Currently open with no closures.

WEST PAPIO TRAIL
Trail is currently open from Huntington Park south to Millard Avenue and from "Q" Street & Harry Andersen Avenue south to Giles Road.

ZORINSKY LAKE & RECREATION AREA TRAIL
• Trail is currently open with no closures
